24/07/2025Timeless Sash Windows are excited once again to open the doors of our refurbishment joinery to the public as part of National Heritage Week 2025.
The theme this year is “Exploring our Foundations”. Through this lens we will be exploring the history of Irish timber windows from the oldest surviving ones in Kilkenny Castle, to the present. Our tour will begin with a slideshow presentation to take you on a journey from the late 1600s through the evolution of different styles of windows that aligned with the political, social and economic changes over the years.
Then we will walk you through our specialist refurbishment joinery to show you the process firsthand. Windows that can be up to 300 years old pass through this area where we carefully strip back all the paint, carry out any necessary splice repairs before glazing and re-painting.
You will have an opportunity to ask any questions at the end, or indeed during, this informal presentation.
